[ARCHIVED] Camp Richmond Cancelled for Summer of 2021

After much consideration, and posting the open positions in various publications, in consultation with administration, the Recreation Director has had to make the difficult decision to not hold Camp Richmond for the summer of 2021.

Due to the lack of applicants for the camp counselors and safety officer positions, we will not be able to provide a day camp to our community.  The Recreation Department takes the safety of other’s children very seriously and without having enough applicants to run a safe camp, a difficult decision had to be made.

We will continue to offer the craft program and other children’s programs this summer.  We also have several free family events listed in the summer guide including movies in the park.

We do believe that we will be able to open the community pool.   Currently our staff is limited there as well, so we are reviewing what the hours and capacity will be for this summer.   As soon as these decisions are made, we will share the information.  As a reminder we are offering a lifeguard training class this June.  Contact the Recreation Department for more information.

Please follow the Recreation Department on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/RichmondRecreationDepartment and the City website at www.cityofrichmond.net to stay informed of new offerings by the Department.

For additional information or questions related to the Richmond Parks, please contact the Recreation Director, Margo VanHove, at 586-727-3064 or parksandrec@comcast.net.

Together, we will still have a safe and fun summer, just reimagined.
