[ARCHIVED] DNR Suspends Burn Permits

The DNR has suspended burn permits for open burning across the state. The DNR and Macomb County Fire Chiefs Association are allowing campfires with a permit.

Any resident of the Richmond Fire service area who wishes to have a recreational fire in a defined burn pit or above ground fire pit will be allowed to do so with a permit. The permits are free and currently must be filled out online. Any person obtaining a permit agrees to have the fire inspected by a Fire Department officer if any complaints are received.

Due to the current DNR burning ban, there will be NO PERMITS ALLOWED FOR ANY OPEN BURN OF BRUSH OR YARD WASTE. The ban on open burning of brush will remain in place thru April 30th by DNR order. They may extend the ban at a later date. For information on the suspension of burn permits contact the DNR at 1-800-292-7800 or visit their page by clicking here.
