[ARCHIVED] 2019 Summer Road Projects

This summer’s road projects include Division Road and Monroe Street. Both projects have had a late start due to the recent rains, but got underway in May.  Below are more details on the individual projects.  Weather permitting the contractor may begin paving May 28th and 29th.

Division Road

The City will be repaving Division Road from Stoecker Lane (West City Limit) to the CN Railroad Tracks (East City Limit). The work will include milling 1½” off the top of the existing asphalt pavement surface, drainage structure adjustments, pavement repairs, and placement of a new asphalt pavement wearing course. The project will also include miscellaneous repairs to curbs and sidewalks as identified by the City. The curb work also includes widening the entrance to Burke Drive. The Division Road project is anticipated to take a few weeks to complete.   For the Division Road project two-way traffic will be maintained for the duration of the project through lane closures and flagging operations.

Monroe Street

The City will be reconstructing Monroe Street from Grove Street to Main Street. The work will include removing the asphalt pavement, drainage structure adjustments, and placement of new asphalt pavement. The project will also include miscellaneous repairs to curbs, driveways, and sidewalks as identified by the City.  This project is anticipated to take a few weeks to complete. The impact to residents will be relatively minor. In most cases at least one lane of traffic will be maintained during construction and residents should have consistent access to their driveway, unless driveway repairs are necessary, in which case residents will be unable to access their driveway until the concrete has fully cured. From Main to Parker the project will be a mill and resurface of 1.5” of the top asphalt. From Parker to Grove all asphalt will be removed and replaced. The Contractor is allowed to begin working at 7 a.m., each morning. On street parking will be prohibited between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. during construction.   A last minute addition to this project is the replacement of a portion of the sewer line from Walnut Street east to the curve in the road.
