From Councilor Yaroch's Perspective . . . . .
When it came to choose a place to live, I chose the small town life in Richmond. Richmond offers a high quality of life, which can be attributed to our strong community involvement. Richmond with time for you, is not something we just say, it is something we mean. I am proud to say I am a rest of my life resident of Richmond.
I feel it is my duty as a council member to listen to the concerns of residents and make informed decisions, which address them. I have walked all of Richmond knocking on doors, attended community events and neighborhood meetings to keep in touch with what is important to residents. Periodically I attend the meetings of our many city boards and commissions to hear first hand discussion of the issues they address. Some of my past council committee work includes Non-affiliated Personnel Policies, Cemetery, Library Services, and City Hall Facilities.
I believe some of the major issues affecting our city are taxation, growth, and traffic safety. The property tax millage rate has been lowered, but I support continued efforts to lower taxes through fiscally responsible budgeting. I believe in a needs vs. wants approach to spending, in which we focus on needs and curtail our wants. I believe growth is inevitable, but it must be planned to maintain our small town charm. In order to prevent the negative impact of growth, planning must include our neighboring communities and the school district. We must continue to implement recommendations in the citys Master Transportation Plan to provide for safe streets and ensure our high quality of life. I would appreciate hearing your opinion, so please call or drop me an email.
